Paul
Baritone Sax
Paul Speare
Originally a tenor sax player/flautist, in the 1980s Paul was a member of Dexys Midnight Runners, playing on their platinum-selling album Too-Rye-Ay and hit singles Come On Eileen and Jacky Wilson Said.
Paul later worked as a session musician with various artists including Elvis Costello as a member of the TKO Horns (on the album Punch the Clock), and The Special AKA (playing on their influential protest song Free Nelson Mandela).
He took up baritone sax almost by accident when asked by the celebrated record producer, Tony Visconti, to record an overdub on a hired instrument and was immediately smitten! Paul also plays and writes for his own original jazz-fusion band.
Paul engineered and produced the 5 track demo on the 'Listen' page on this website.
